This early 70s Fender Bassman 50 is a fantastic sounding vintage hand-wired Fender amp.
BF'd at some point with the AB165 circuit, or something very close to it (I've looked at some schems, but haven't poured over every last part value used here). It has a "Fat Switch" Mod when you engage the Bright switch on the normal channel that adds gain and fatness, and produces sweet overdrive when cranked.
New repro custom brushed metal Faceplate, updated light blue grill cloth.
Very loud, and nails Fender sparkle and sweetness, with the headroom and lows that 6L6 tubes provide. Operates with just a low hum, as low as many amps go, though you may be able to get it quieter with new preamp tubes. Recently serviced: power tubes installed and biased, checked points stability and caps for leaks. I've used it many hours with no notable issues or pops. Very minor static in Vol knob.
Power tubes have just a few hours of use; matched Tung Sol 6L6 tubes, biased. Many to mostly original components, including original transformers. New filter caps, a few misc caps updated, a resistor replaced near bulb, and 3-prong cord added.
Tolex worn in areas but overall nice cosmetic condition for its age with cool patina. Tolex apparently original. As pictured.
Solid state rectified, 50W, and very loud!
Includes updated castors and original castors.
