The Hugger
FH(fx) Hugger
In Stock!

Dual boost loop. Pedal Awakener.

The FH(fx) Hugger has two toggle-switchable boost circuits and a toggle-
switchable true bypass loop in between them! The unique switching and
signal path options make it a multi-use, multi-function effects tool!

The pedal was created by Tom Dalton of FuzzHugger, and developed with
Mellowtone, who built the first prototype.
The result is a
truly unique multi-function dual boost. The first of its kind!

Run it as...
A single-stage boost.
A dual-stage boost (with boost and master controls).
A true bypass loop with pre-boost and/or post-boost!
A true bypass loop!
A pedal awakener! Put a pedal in the loop─drive its input and/or adjust its output
volume without changing its tone (fix a pedal's volume drop!).
Two separately placed boosts. Put a few pedals (or all your pedals!) in the loop
and use it like two separate boost pedals─choose the location of both boosts!
Module hugger─use modules like the Mellowtone Fat Sound in the loop. Turn your
Hugger into whatever type of module you put in the loop. Or stack several in different
orders to create new effects textures!

I got the idea for what became the Hugger a while ago, but had no interest in competing as an unknown pedal builder...so I kept the idea to
myself. But after FuzzHugger came into being, I got thinking about the pedal again. Nobody else was making a pedal like the Hugger. And
that's when the idea of a collaboration came about. I thought Mellowtone would be the perfect builder to design a low-noise boost circuit!
(Thankfully, Eric was into the idea and agreed to the project!)
Thanks to Mellowtone prototyping the design and building the boost circuits, the Hugger is now the first creation by FH(fx). And FH(fx) was
created as a result, specifically to create unique and useful effects tools for musicians!

Getting more specific about the pedal... Given its low price, you can buy one to use as your main clean boost. But the Hugger was also
designed to work with other pedals, whether it be driving inputs or fixing volume drops. So our primary goal was for low-noise boost stages.
Rather than go for the biggest boost, we went for the cleanest, lowest-noise, boost circuit possible. And it still packs a ton of punch!

A multi-operation dual boost loop, the pedal's genuinely unique, but also very practical
it's an effects tool that's priced as an effects tool...
we're very proud of it, but we're not going to price it arrogantly high.

Finally, huge thanks to Mellowtone and Devi Ever for their support and involvement with this project. The pedal wouldn't exist without
Mellowtone (and FuzzHugger.com wouldn't exist without Devi!). Devi also had some valuable input on the naming process! Speaking of
Mellowtone and Devi, there's a bit more in store from them as far as uses for the Hugger!

Pick up a Fat Sound distortion module and get
even more flexability out of your Hugger. With
the Fat Sound in the loop, you've got a
single-stage boost, a dual-stage boost, or a
distortion pedal with pre and post boost stages!

The Hugger. What is it exactly? It is a true bypass loop with pre and post boost circuits, all of which are individually toggleable, allowing you
to do any of the following: correct volume drops on vintage effects units, use it as a stand alone booster, footswitch activate fx chains which
can also be overdriven with the pre boost, etc. etc.
Very useful pedal! Your average TB loop goes for about $40 or more, and then when you
add in the boost circuits
it's not only a great deal, there is nothing like it!

I really like it. [The boost stages are] as clean as a whistle. They sound very transparent. If you aren't using the loop portion, and just want to
use it as a booster, using both stages together can make some serious volume!
It's really a cool useful pedal, probably will be something amazing for serious musicians and studio techs' toolbags.

"Got the hugger today...sounds freaking great!"
--Alex, IN

"The pedals came yesterday! Many thanks for the quick shipping...I've fooled around with
The Hugger a bit, and really like the boost sound & super flexibility of use."
--John, OR

"I'm LOVIN it. It's just what my rig needed. Great sounding boost. Thanks so much for the
pedal! It's earned a permanent spot on my board!"
--Colin, PA

"I've finally had a chance to really mess around with my hugger. Wow!!! Initially I just threw
it in front of my 1965 Ampeg Gemini I (bedroom amp) with both boosts turned UP...holy
s***! It was like the amp just woke up from a really long nap. And to make that amp sound
even better than it does naturally, on its own? Unbelievable."
--Chris, NY

"The Hugger is just as cool [as the Algal Bloom]. It makes already distorted tones or other
pedals sound kickass."
--A.C., CA

We're currently revising the
Hugger...it's a great pedal, but
internally, it's been a mess of
wires.
Julie's doing really neat work
wiring pedals up, but before
she starts wiring Huggers,
we've got to redesign the the
pedal to get it smarter inside.

The new Hugger will have two
footswitches and one toggle.
